Sustainable wood
Danish production – quality and environmental responsibility hand in hand
We guarantee that the products are made in Denmark by a manufacturer that combines local roots with global responsibility. All processing takes place in Danish facilities, which not only guarantees high quality craftsmanship, but also ensures short transportation and low environmental impact. Locally produced flooring is also subject to strict Danish environmental standards, ensuring proper working conditions and a high degree of traceability.
The manufacturer has also introduced several green initiatives, such as recycling residual materials, developing long-lasting surfaces and establishing takeback schemes where used floors can be recycled. This supports a circular economy where nothing goes to waste – and where quality and responsibility go hand in hand.
Cradle to Cradle – proven sustainability
The floors we supply are certified to Cradle to Cradle Certified® at bronze level, one of the world’s most recognized and comprehensive certification schemes for sustainable products. The certification sets strict requirements for the entire product lifecycle – from raw material to recycling – and assesses five key areas: material health, recyclability, renewable energy and carbon management, responsible water management and social equity.
This means that both materials and production are selected and organized with people and the environment in mind.
As a supplier, we work with a Danish manufacturer that continuously documents progress to achieve higher certification levels. Recent improvements include the development of healthier surface treatments, water purification and the implementation of waste reduction through circular solutions.
Cradle to Cradle is not just a label – it’s a commitment to continuous improvement and responsible production.
Carbon-neutral focus and responsible energy use
The Danish manufacturer behind the floors is actively working to reduce its carbon footprint as much as possible. All production takes place in Denmark and uses only renewable energy from wind power, making the production itself close to carbon neutral. This means that the entire manufacturing process – from sawmill to finished floor – has a minimal impact on the climate.
In addition, wood from Danish and Northern European forests is used, which reduces the need for long transportation and thus minimizes greenhouse gas emissions. The manufacturer also focuses on internal optimization and recycling, for example by purifying and reusing process water and integrating waste wood into new products via circular platforms such as TheUpcycle.dk. This holistic perspective ensures that sustainability is not just part of the product – but of the entire value chain.
FSC® certified wood – traceable and responsible forestry
The majority of the wood floors we offer are FSC® certified – especially those in pine. FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) is an international and independent labeling scheme that ensures that the wood comes from responsibly managed forests where environmental, social and economic conditions are in balance. An FSC-certified product can be traced all the way from the felled tree to the finished floor.
The scheme guarantees that forests are preserved for future generations, that biodiversity is protected and that forest workers work under safe and decent conditions. At the same time, the manufacturer actively works to expand the proportion of FSC-certified wood to include other types of wood and encourages its suppliers to obtain certification. For the end user, this means a product with proven responsibility and transparency throughout the supply chain.
